Date: October 18-21, 2009
Destination: Bacolod/Talisay/Silay cities & Murcia, Negros Occidental and Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental
Travel via: Air (Philippine Airlines), Land (van, tricycle and Ceres Liner bus)
Last October 20, we celebrated cousin Evy's birthday and it was her first time to celebrate her b-day outside Metro Manila. She was every excited to travel outside Bacolod City. We already did traveling the city during Masskara Festival (this was posted before) and she wanted to celebrate it via picnic style.
We rented a van c/o Mang Jhun who assisted us on our first day in Bacolod. We traveled few kilometers from Bacolod and we headed to this place.
It is one of the tourist attractions in Negros Occidental. It was situated on the right side of Bacolod City, the town of Murcia. Mambukal Resort lies 1,200 feet above sea level and serves as a gateway to Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park. Originally developed by a Japanese architect named Kokichi Paul Ishiwata in 1927, the resort started as a bathhouse and picnic garden and has provided cool haven for Negrenses and their guests. From Bacolod to Mambukal Mountain Resort is a 35-minute drive by private car passing through Murcia town.
Tip: According to their website, Public utility vehicles plying this are located at the northwestern side of the Libertad Public Market. Jeepney trips to Mambukal start at 7:20 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fare is about Php30 per person. (Source: Mambukal - Contact)
We arrived at the resort and we were greeted by staff since we have to pay the entrance fee and parking fee for our van. We paid PHP30 each and PHP15 for van parking fee. And after that, we headed to our cottage area.
Note: Rates were year 2009. For updated rates and fees, check on this website: http://mambukal.negros-occ.gov.ph/rates/
The place was breathtaking. I enjoyed here and it was relaxing. We were amazed on the lagoon and different rock formations. I also amazed the tropical rainforest which you could imagine that you are in a jungle. Good thing that they preserved its beauty. The moment we arrived the cottage area, we immediately took photos:
We stayed at the resort for half day. We went back to Bacolod this afternoon since we have many places to visit. It was a wonderful place and hope to visit again soon! :)

We took our meal and this time, my cousin Evy treated us because it's her birthday. We went at the cafeteria and bought food and went back to our cottage and started to eat.

We went to waterfalls and we have to climb many steps until we reached that place. It was a tiring walk and climbing stairs and it was worth achieving especially that you saw the great view.
