Silay Pro-Cathedral
After we arrived from Dumaguete city, we rested for few hours and we proceed to Bacolod City, in Negros Occidental for the upcoming Masskara Festival. Actually, it was one of my favorite festivals in the country. It was rich cultures and since Bacolod is a City of Smiles, non-stop smiles were seen whether they wore masks or not. I have to Bacolod to cover this event but it was my first time with my friends and officemates.

It was a six hour long bus trip from Dumaguete passing towns and cities of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. Negros Island by the way is a bigger island. It was the 3rd largest island of the country so the travel time was longer as we expected. We passed mountain ranges that separate Mabinay in Neg. Oriental and Kabankalan City in Neg. Occidental. It was an hour journey for those two places. We left at 3AM and arrived in the City of Smiles at 9AM. We hired aircon type jeepney on our travel within the city. Here are the places we went:
1. Breakfast at Bascon Cafe
Situated along Lacson Street, a cafe that you will not miss to visit. It is a dessert house but we decided to have our breakfast here. This place was simple but I love the interior because it looked like a living room. It is a cozy place to hang out with your friends.

2. Stroll at Bacolod Plaza / Pray at San Sebastian Cathedral
Situated along Bacolod City downtown, the plaza was the event of the dancing competition for the Masskara Festival. We went there and we saw huge Masskara around the plaza. We also went to San Sebastian Cathedral and heard mass there.
3. A Day with The Ruins
If you remember, I have a blog posted here about the visit to The Ruins with my family and it happened at night. This time, together with them we visited The Ruins at a scorching heat of the sun. This place looked amazing and many tourists also did their side trip outside Bacolod City. Everyone seems to love the place and we spend there taking photos after photos. :)

4. Revisiting Balay Negrense
As we headed to Silay City from Talisay City, I was excited to be back after two years. I felt that I was in a history because of the old structures and sites around the city proper. We went to Balay Negrense which was the set of our tour but unfortunately, it was closed for some renovation. Nut nevertheless, we took photos outside the old house. :)

5. Say a Prayer at Silay Pro-Cathedral
I also been to this place and the moment, I stepped inside, I felt solemnity and I bowed down and prayed for our guidance and on our safe trip. The place is full of solemnity and I amazed the dome shaped which is similar to St. Peters Basilica in Vatican.
6. Eat Guapple Pie at El Ideal
Believe me, they were intrigued about the pie thing. Actually, I introduced to them the specialty of this restaurant since I came here two years ago and I loved their guapple pie. It was a fruit, a combined look of guava and apple and made it into pie. Surprisingly, its delicious. This place was located along National Highway in Silay City. Grab a slice because it's easily sold out. :)
We were running out of time and we hurriedly went to Bacolod for the parade will start in 30 minutes. We immediately left Silay City and headed to Bacolod 25 minutes after. The driver knew some places for the parade and he dropped us at Araneta Street since this was the start of the parade.
